This program aims to educate, empower, and provide menstrual hygiene solutions to young girls in low-income communities, aligning with the global theme "Together for a Period-Friendly World." [caption id="attachment_6192" align="alignnone" width="720"] Some of the items (Sanitary pads) distributed to students of Ilishan (Senior) High School, Ilishan Remo Ogun State[/caption] [caption id="attachment_6198" align="alignnone" width="1008"] Wuraola Bamiduro[/caption] Mission: The Wuraola Bamiduro Foundation is committed to working with vulnerable people and communities to improve their lives through outreaches and solution-oriented intervention programs. Our mission is to make a positive impact, with a particular emphasis on the menstrual health of young females. Objectives: • Provide menstrual education and awareness to young girls in low-income communities • Distribute sanitary pads and menstrual products to those in need • Promote menstrual hygiene and health through interactive workshops and sessions • Empower young girls to confidently navigate their menstrual cycles and reach their full potential Impact: Since its inception, the Wuraola Bamiduro Foundation has impacted over 6,000 young girls across 4 states in Nigeria, including Edo, Oyo, Lagos, and Ogun. Our initiatives have provided vital menstrual health education, sanitary products, and support to girls in need, empowering them to take control of their health and well-being. [caption id="attachment_6193" align="alignnone" width="1170"] Methodist High School Bodija, Ibadan[/caption] On May 28th, 2024, the foundation visited Ilishan High School (Junior and Senior), Ilisan Remo, Ogun State, and distributed sanitary pads to 650 girls, promoting menstrual health and hygiene. The initiative was well-received by the school administration and students, who expressed their gratitude for the vital program. Mrs. Adekoya, the Principal of one of the schools, expressed her excitement, stating, "Most of our girls are still using rags and tissue paper for their monthly flow, and we appreciate that the foundation considered our school for this vital program." The students themselves were deeply impacted by the initiative. Patience from Ilishan High School (Junior) said, "I'm happy that Wuraola Bamiduro Foundation came around to teach us how to take care of our bodies during menstruation. Thank you so much!" Oluwarantimisirere from the Junior school added, "Thank you for the opportunity to hear this educative information, especially on how to treat menstrual pain." We appreciate the lessons we learned, such as avoiding cold water and sugary foods during our menstrual flow, and the importance of engaging in exercise. Thank you for impacting this knowledge in us." The PAD A GIRL INITIATIVE is a crucial step towards promoting menstrual hygiene, education, and empowerment among young girls, aligning with the global theme "Together for a Period-Friendly World." We urge the government and the general public to support this initiative, making sanitary kits available to all, especially girls in rural areas. Let's join forces to empower our girls and promote menstrual hygiene for all! __________________ Brief Bio Wuraola Sarah Ayeni (Nee Bamiduro): Championing Menstrual Health and Empowering Young Girls Born in 1994 to the esteemed family of Baale Kayode and Olori (Princess) Omolayo Bamiduro (née Abolarin), Wuraola Sarah Ayeni is a beacon of compassion and multi-faceted talent. From a young age, her journey has been a testament to resilience, education, and an unwavering commitment to uplifting others. Early Life and Education Wuraola's educational journey began at Nickdel Primary School in Ibadan, where she laid the foundations for her future endeavors. Her quest for knowledge continued at Providence High School, Ibadan, where she distinguished herself as a dedicated student. Her academic pursuits led her to Obafemi Awolowo University, where she earned a Bachelor's degree in English, followed by a Master's degree in Media Resource Management from the University of Ibadan. A Personal Life Rooted in Tradition and Love In her personal life, Wuraola's story intertwines with rich cultural heritage and love. Married to Prince Olugbenga Ayeni from Ejiyan Ekiti, Ekiti State, she continues to honor her roots while forging a path dedicated to service and community development. A Professional Calling and Passionate Advocacy Professionally, Wuraola is an integral part of the Registry department at Babcock University in Ilishan Remo, Ogun State. In addition, she is a qualified teacher, certified by Teacher Registration Council of Nigeria (TCRN). However, it is her profound passion for working with young people that truly defines her. Driven by a calling to make a meaningful impact, she established the Wuraola Bamiduro Foundation in 2019 during her national youth service in Edo State. Founding the Wuraola Bamiduro Foundation Founded on a mission to transform lives and communities, the Wuraola Bamiduro Foundation focuses on addressing the critical issues facing vulnerable groups, with a particular emphasis on the health and well-being of young females. Recognizing the urgent need for menstrual health education and resources, Wuraola was moved by the plight of young girls using tissue paper during their menstrual cycles. Despite limited resources, she launched a campaign to educate and empower girls about menstrual hygiene and body care. Since its inception, the foundation has flourished, reaching over 6,000 girls across four Nigerian states—Edo, Oyo, Lagos, and Ogun. Registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission, the foundation operates with a steadfast commitment to providing solution-oriented interventions and outreach programs that improve the lives of those in need.
