The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has formally disassociated itself from a publication by The Guardian Nigeria alleging that 51 universities and other institutions are involved in unauthorised deductions from student loans.
The report, titled “51 Varsities, Others Embroiled in Illegal Deductions from Students’ Loans”, was published on Tuesday, 29 April 2025. In a swift response, NELFUND issued a statement clarifying that it was not consulted for the story and did not provide any data, commentary, or contribution to the report.
