It is widely known that one of the crucial resources Africa has is its youthful population. Several facts and figures confirm this and one is the projection that by 2030, young Africans will make up 45 percent of the world’s population. However, these are references that often spring up in the corners and alleys where policies of the future are being discussed for sustainable development. It, therefore, makes it easy to miss the reality that African youths are already creating the future they want today. An analysis by Antler based on a report by The Big Deal puts the median age of African startup founders at 29 years. In an exciting development for the startup ecosystem, that figure is bound to go even lower with the entrance of Custimony into the scene.
Custimony is a business intelligence platform founded by Adams Paul, an undergraduate student from the University of Ibadan in Nigeria who has teamed up with two of his colleagues(Abu Teslim and Williams Owoeye). The solution this ambitious trio is providing is set to change the way brands view testimonials or customer reviews by helping brands unlock the true value in these invaluable assets. This is a helpful innovation coming when the tech ecosystem in Africa is buzzing with activities. From having no unicorn some 10 years back to having different startups surpassing the $1 billion mark in valuation, the startup industry has come a long way. Unfortunately, it is not all entrepreneurs dream make it out of the harsh woods of the industry. The chance of being a successful startup in Nigeria stands at 39% according to reports and one critical factor to that is sales. This is where Custimony plays a crucial role as it takes customers’ testimonials or reviews about brands from mere compliments to a money-making tool. This is done by leveraging the power of artificial intelligence and consumer psychology.
